Piano restorations

All our rebuilds begin with a preliminary evaluation in-person. We assess the piano thoroughly and give you a written estimate of the cost, time and scope of work to be expected. This is to make sure that our clients and our rebuilders are on the page. It is at this time that we also discuss and make some decisions on the possibility of customizing your piano to suit you.

Our written quotes are valid for 3 months and include a detailed breakdown of work and cost that the rebuild will involve.

The rebuilding process begins with moving your piano to our workshop where we meticulously take it apart and begin our work. The depth and scope of work varies from project to project and many factors (such as historical value, case work, budget, pianistic needs etc.) influence it.

The timeline for rebuilds are counted in months and we keep our piano owners up to date on the piano's progress with pictures.

The final stage of the process prior to delivery includes tuning, regulating and voicing the piano to achieve a beautiful tonal sound and touch. While some of that is don while the piano is in the workshop, it is not unusual for us to make the final tonal adjustments in the client's home.
